Fossil Fuel Power Generation

The Hemiwedge® Cartridge Valve is an ideal solution for conventional fossil fuel power generation.  Utilizing an all-metal seat, stationary core, and straight-through bore design, it can handle tough steam service applications that wreak havoc on conventional valve designs. 

The metal-to-metal valve design is a mechanical seal in which the hard-faced hemispherical closure member wedges and loads a hard-faced seat in the final closing action.  This wedging action produces a tight shutoff that cannot be achieved by position-seated quarter-turn designs or conventional gate valves.  In addition, the stationary core directs fluid flow straight through the valve for uninterrupted power generation.  During opening and closing, most other designs direct the fluid flow into the seat or side of the body, causing erosion and damage to the seat and body. 

The Hemiwedge® Cartridge Valve is also uniquely suited for welded-in valve installations in power plants.  The cartridge design includes all trim components assembled together which allows quick repair or replacement of trim without removing the valve from the line.  This in turn reduces maintenance turnaround time - and costly downtime - from days to minutes.
